10-samuel Chapter II: 9

1 David said there still anyone left of the house of Saul, that I use kindness to him for Jonathan's sake?

2 And there was a servant of the house of Saul, whose name was Ziba, and they called him to David. the king asked him, Art thou Ziba? And he said, Thy servant!

3 King continued: There are not yet any of the house of Saul, that I can use it with the grace of God? Ziba said to the king: There is still a son of Jonathan, crippled feet.

4 The king said to him: Where is. Ziba answered the king, are in the house of Machir, son of Ammiel in Lo-debar.

5 Then king David sent, and took the house of Machir, son of Ammiel in Lo-debar.

6 And Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, son of Saul, came to David and fell on his face to the earth, and did reverence. And David said, Mephibosheth! And he answered, Behold thy servant.

7 Then David said to him: Fear not, for I will surely shew thee of kindness for Jonathan thy father, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father, and thou shalt eat bread at my table.

8 Then Mephibosheth bowed himself, and said, What is thy servant, that thou shouldest look upon such a dead dog as I?

9 Then David called Ziba, Saul's servant, and said to him: All that belonged to Saul and to all his house I have given to your master's son.

10 Cultivar you shall call, for the land, thou, and thy sons, and thy servants, and gather the fruits, that thy master's son may have food to eat: but Mephibosheth thy master's son shall eat bread alway at my table. Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.

11 Ziba answered the king, According to all that my lord the king hath commanded his servant, so will he. Said the king: As for Mephibosheth, he shall eat at my table like one of the king's sons.

12 And Mephibosheth had a young son, whose name was Micah. And all that dwelt in the house of Ziba were servants unto Mephibosheth.

13 Lived therefore Mephibosheth in Jerusalem, because he always ate at the king's table. And he was lame in both feet.
